So who are the Chicago Blues Angels?

The best way to describe Chicago Blues Angels…

We play American Roots Music, Blues, Rockabilly & Rock n Roll with a whole lotta soul!!

What sets us apart from other bands?

We bring old school, traditional music to the forefront with a high-energy attitude!  You will experience a rocking’ guitar with the sophistication of a Jazz saxophone.  Together, these create a highly combustible mixture of danceable grooves.  We’re the perfect combo for festivals, private parties, corporate events & more!

Mondo Cortez, on guitar and vocals, has played with Nick Curran, Kim Wilson, and the Fabulous Thunderbirds. He has shared the stage with Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan, Otis Rush, Big Eyed Willie Smith, Dave Meyers, Kid Ramos, and Eddie Taylor Jr. Mondo has also shared the stage with some of the famous rockabilly bands, such as The Paladins, Hillbilly Casino, Nick Curran, and the Nightlifes.

Mondo also currently plays with Special 20s who produces a sound that mixes classic Chicago Blues with Swing and Rock N’ Roll from the 1950’s era.

Jerry DeVivo, on saxophone and vocals, is one of the founding members of the Mighty Blues Kings (1996-2006) during that time, MBK had put out 5 albums and had toured the lower 49 states and not to mention Ireland, England, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Italy, and Canada. Jerry has also shared the stage with Tony Bennett, Ray Charles, BB King, John Mellencamp, Pete Townsend, Huey Lewis, Eddy Vedder, The Spinners, Jimmy Vaughn and Buddy Guy.

The Mighty Blues Kings were on the soundtrack of Kissing which was a 1998 American romantic comedy film directed by Doug Ellin.  Starring David SchwimmerJason LeeMili AvitalKari Wührer, and Vanessa Angel.

When CBA is on the road they always connect with their local Rythm Sections wherever they might be playing from Downtown Chicago to Austin, Texas.

Kid Ramos: Mondo Cortez is a seasoned guitar player that's a contender on the music scene today. At times it makes my big toe shoot up through my boot!

"Mondo Cortez and the Chicago Blues Angels played to a sellout crowd at the Museum's Outdoor Rooftop Concert and literally blew the crowd away with one of the best shows we've seen in years!"  An extremely talented and energetic band that had the crowd on its feet asking for more. Dave  Gonzalez of The Paladins / Hacienda Brothers, "Mondo is The Real Deal. Rockin The Blues with Respect to the original Masters.  A Certified Killer Blues Rockin Guitar Slingin Soul Singin MoFo".

Kim Wilson of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Mondo Cortez is a Blues Man you cannot go wrong going to his show. he can light it up!

Mark Maddox of Buddy Guy Legends - The Chicago Blues Angels are high energy, high octane, always rocks the house at BGL no matter what type of Blues you are looking for CBA fits the bill, they are a headline act and when they are the openers they make it hard for the headliners that follow behind them.
